Theta Lambda
About the Chapter
Theta Lambda Chapter was organized in Dayton, Ohio after several meetings were held to formulate plans for a Go-to-High School, Go-to-College campaign in support of the General Organization. On December 23, 1921, Brother Elmer J. Cheeks, general vice president of Pi Chapter, came to Dayton and installed Theta Lambda Chapter.
In 1923, the Sixteenth Annual Convention was held in Columbus, Ohio. One of the significant periods of the convention was the pilgrimage to the home of Paul Lawrence Dunbar in Dayton. A program was held at the Dunbar home.
In 1935, the Mid-Western Region was established. Brother Sydney A. Jones, Jr. of Theta Lambda Chapter was elected Mid-Western Vice President. Brother Jones was re-elected in 1937, serving until his successor was elected in 1939.
