Epsilon Xi

The history of this lineage within Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. begins with the original Beta Iota Chapter, founded on December 6, 1935, at Western Michigan University. As the 55th House of Alpha, Beta Iota made a meaningful early impact before being dechartered during World War II. Its legacy later continued at Winston-Salem State University, where the chapter was reestablished.

The heart of this story, however, lives most strongly through the Epsilon Xi Chapter. On October 10, 1962, seven brave and exceptional young men chartered what became the 322nd House of Alpha. Their vision and determination set a standard of purpose, academic excellence, and service that has shaped generations of brothers. Epsilon Xi quickly became known for leadership that uplifted both the campus community and the broader region.

Together, across Beta Iota and Epsilon Xi, more than 300 men have proudly joined the House of Alpha, continuing a tradition built on brotherhood, courage, and commitment.
