Alpha Zeta Lambda
About the Chapter
Alpha Zeta Lambda Chapter was chartered on January 28, 1927, in Bluefield, West Virginia. The charter members were Brothers John Pettress, Harry Jefferson, L. M. Dunlap, Hannibal Clark, George Frederick, J. Lacy, E. W. Barrier and D. M. Dunlap, Henry Lake Dickason, James C. Kingslow, W. C. Matney, James A. Shelton and E. W. Browne. Brother Duke Ellington was initiated into the chapter. The chapter organized a Housing Foundation and purchased a fraternity house in 1963. Through the years, the chapter hosted numerous programs and events in service to the community and to honor Brothers. By the late 1990s, the membership had dwindled to small numbers and many of the younger brothers in the area had moved away. Thechapter was re-established in Morgantown, West Virginia in 2016 and has been very diligent in implementing chapter and national programs.
