About the Chapter

The Kansas City residents that emerged from predominately African American neighborhoods were graduates of the historic Sumner and Lincoln High Schools. Many attended nearby universities and returned to the area after graduation. African Americans professionals from other states were also attracted to these communities.

Beta Lambda Chapter was charted on January 19, 1919, with the aim of serving the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan areas of Kansas and Missouri. Beta Lambda hosted two General Conventions which were tri-conventions scheduled in tandem with other fraternities and sororities.
