Delta Eta Lambda

About the Chapter

Chartered April 6th, 1948, Delta Eta Lambda has served as a pillar of leadership, service, and advocacy in Topeka, Kansas, for more than seventy-five years. Founded during a pivotal era in American history, the chapter emerged in a city soon to gain international recognition through the landmark Brown v. Board of Education decision. The chapter’s early presence reflected Alpha Phi Alpha’s commitment to educational equity, civic engagement, and social justice.

The foundation was laid by visionary charter members whose leadership extended far beyond the fraternity. Today, Delta Eta Lambda builds on this historic foundation through scholarships supporting students, visible participation in Martin Luther King Jr. and Juneteenth celebrations, and monthly service with Harvesters. Partnering with the NAACP, the chapter actively promotes voter registration and civic engagement, while fostering brotherhood, leadership development, and alumni mentorship.
