Epsilon Alpha

During the 1930s, University of Toledo students initiated through Alpha Xi Lambda Chapter were active on campus. After years of having “club status” as a student organization, Alphas at Toledo were desirous of their own chapter and petitioned the Fraternity. On Saturday, May 15, 1954, at City Park Shelter in Toledo, Ohio, the Epsilon Alpha chapter was chartered and has remained active without interruption for the last 71 years.

The chapter is noted for academic and athletic excellence, founding the Black Student Union and achieving several firsts, including the university’s first Black Homecoming King and Inter-Fraternity Council President. The chapter also hosts social events, career clinics, reading initiatives, supports voter registration and contribution. Furthermore, the chapter has contributed to fundraising campaigns for other organizations, including the NAACP and UNICEF. Epsilon Alpha has been the light of the university Pride in unity, unity in brotherhood, and brotherhood for the greater good have been the staples for the Toledo Alphas.
