Eta Rho
Western Kentucky University
About the Chapter
Eta Rho was chartered on March 25, 1972 at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green Kentucky. The Gamma Epsilon Lambda and Alpha Lambda Chapters were instrumental in chartering Eta Rho. The chapter Charter Members were Brother Ricardo Sisney and Brother Jimmy Stewart. Brother Sisney was employed at WKU during the time the chapter was chartered.
The Dean of Student Life, Edward Willis approached Brother Sisney and stated there were two other black fraternities on campus and that should meet the needs of all the Black male students. If more students were interested in having an Alpha chapter at the University, it would be considered. Willis located twelve other men who were interested in becoming members. The charter line included: Napoleon Avery, Joseph Ellison, William Fox, Edward Givens, Reginald Glass, Gilbert Kelly, George E. Kendrick, Byron Kirkwood, Ernest Mathis, James McWhorter, Eddie Wills Jr., Hugh L. Winstead Jr., and Daniel Woodward.
