Gamma Epsilon

University of Wisconsin-Madison

About the Chapter

The Mighty Gamma Epsilon Chapter of Madison, Wisconsin was established with the help of two brothers from Chicago, Illinois. Brother Thomas M. Clarke, the Secretary of Xi Lambda, along with Brother Charles Lane, the General Consular, were commissioned by Vice-President William N. Lovelace to activate an undergraduate chapter at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. In the early years, Gamma Epsilon boasted a number of varsity athletes in their ranks, including brothers on the Wisconsin football, track, and basketball team. Since its founding on December 7, 1946, Gamma Epsilon has faced many reactivation periods. However, since 1990, the chapter has been stronger than ever. Assisting Brother Lane and Brother Clarke in Madison were: Ronald S. Byrd, Ira T. Dawson, Harry L. Hamilton, Isaac Miller, Dale Phillips, John E. Rhinhart, Arnold W. Wright.
