Kappa

The coming together of African American Ohio Medical University and Ohio State University students in the spirit of fellowship and purpose is the origin of a tradition. The tradition led to the formation of the Omusu Club with the interest of becoming a member of the fraternity at Ohio State University. Kappa Chapter was chartered on January 13, 1911, and became the 10th chapter of the fraternity.

The chapter is home to the designer of the original fraternity shield. The chapter spawned two brothers that would break racial barriers in track and field sports. Kappa chapter hosted four early general conventions and members served as General President, Treasurer, Secretary and Midwestern Region Vice President. Brotherhood is essential to the legacy of Kappa Chapter and the many milestones the chapter has accomplished throughout its history.
