Mu Mu Lambda

About the Chapter

Mu Mu Lambda was chartered on April 14, 1976, in Glen Ellyn, Illinois, as the western suburbs of Chicago experienced significant demographic and cultural change. African American families brought a strong commitment to community, leadership, and service, forming organizations that laid the groundwork for a lasting brotherhood.

From its inception, Mu Mu Lambda committed itself to scholarship, mentorship, and community uplift. The chapter quickly organized its first scholarship committee in 1976 and later launched its signature Beautillion program in 1982. Over time, this initiative has awarded more than $300,000 in scholarships, supporting over 250 young men in their pursuit of higher education.

Mu Mu Lambda expanded its impact through transformative youth programs such as Alpha Lite and Young Men of Distinction, earning recognition for excellence in mentorship and leadership development.
