About the Chapter
Mu Mu Chapter was chartered on August 20, 1976 at Elmhurst College, marking a significant expansion of the fraternity’s collegiate presence in the Midwest. Established during a period of growing national emphasis on higher education access and Black student leadership, Mu Mu Chapter was founded to uphold Alpha Phi Alpha’s longstanding commitment to scholarship and service.
Since its founding, the chapter has consistently aimed to develop leaders who are dedicated to service and prepared to tackle the social and educational issues facing their communities. Through campus events, mentorship programs, and civic participation, Mu Mu has kept a prominent and meaningful presence at Elmhurst.
A defining feature of Mu Mu is its strong relationship with its affiliated alumni chapter, Mu Mu Lambda. This partnership has created a continuum of brotherhood, leadership development, and support that extends beyond undergraduate years, playing a critical role in sustaining the chapter’s legacy.
