About the Chapter
Nu Rho was founded on December 22, 1977, and received its charter in 1978 at the Illinois Institute of Technology. In the fall of 1999, DePaul University was added to the chapter’s charter. Nu Rho has a rich tradition of success. It has gained prominence on both regional and national levels, being name Chapter of the Year, and Outstanding Academic Chapter in the Midwestern Region and Midwestern Step Show Champions multiple times.
Brothers initiated into Nu Rho have held regional and national offices in the fraternity. The chapter has also produced a Brother of the Year and Alpha Phi Alpha Foundation national scholarship recipients.
Brothers made at Nu Rho currently serve on major corporate boards, lead companies, and make an impact worldwide. The legacy of Nu Rho is celebrated each year on its charter day, bringing together brothers initiated at both of campuses. Nu Rho participates in each of Alpha’s national programs and will continue to create benchmarks for community service.
