About the Chapter

Pi Chapter grew out of the Cleveland College Club, composed of students from the Case School of Applied Science and Western Reserve University (now Case Western University). The chapter was chartered on Thursday, May 14 & Friday, May 15, 1914, as the 15th chapter of the fraternity and first Black Greek letter organization in Cleveland, Ohio.

The chapter has hosted numerous fraternity conventions, advocated for the admittance of African American students in Ohio universities and provided community servant leadership. Members of Pi served in office as General President and Secretary at the national level, established other chapters, and financed the printing of the first edition of the fraternity’s history book and initial printing of the marketing materials for the Go-to- High School, Go-to-College educational campaign. The chapter has successfully cultivated a culture of brotherhood.
