About the Chapter

Xi Chapter originated from a group of leading African American male students at Wilberforce University that decided to organize themselves to become a fraternal organization. The chapter was chartered on December 14, 1912, and became the 13th college chapter of the fraternity. The symbiotic co-existence of the first private historically Black college university established for educating African Americans, coupled with the first intercollegiate fraternity, set a standard for the progression, global welfare, and status African Americans, originating at Wilberforce, Ohio and the Midwest Region of the fraternity.

Members of Xi Chapter gave rise to the fraternity hymn, music from the hymn and the fraternity prayer. Nurturing a legacy of excellence, brotherhood for the chapter came from its members, the administration, and faculty, many whom were also members of the fraternity.
