Zeta Beta

Ferris State University

About the Chapter

The history of Zeta Beta began at Ferris State College in September 1963, with the formation of the “Alpha Interest Group.” Acting as a social study group for males on campus, the eleven members stuck together throughout the semester. Requests were sent to the college’s Inter- Fraternity Council (IFC) and the national office of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to petition for membership. In the spring of 1966, a charter was granted under the name Zeta Beta Chapter. The chapter was then approved as a colony by the I.F.C. for the Ferris campus. Zeta Beta was the first African American Greek Organization affiliated with the campus.

The chapter continues to make its mark on the campus and community through a commitment to mentoring and the uplifting of humanity and through charitable and educational activities. They continued to support our national programs and continue to dedicate time to a new generation of leaders and partners to ensure the success of our youth.
